New Membership or Renewals

Eligible veterans applying for new membership or renewals can submit the following information to Post Membership Committee:

Complete American Legion Membership Application. Print a completed copy for your records.
Email a copy of your DD214 discharge (black out your Social Security Number) to the Post Adjutant, John Murray. (Renewals do not need to provide a DD214 copy)
Pay the $60 membership dues through our Venmo Account (American Legion Post 12 Dothan Venmo) or check. Please mail (or carry) a check, made out to Post 12 Dothan, to the Adjutant (P.O. Box 71, Dothan, AL 36302).
If the information is correct, membership will be approved and then a membership card will be mailed to you.

Transfers

Veterans applying for transfers from your current Post to Post 12 can submit the following:

Complete American Legion Membership Application.
Provide a copy of your DD214 discharge (black out your Social Security Number).
Provide a copy of your membership card.
Membership dues payment, if current year dues are not paid. If current dues are paid, please pay dues for next year's membership.
Email documents to he post Adjutant: Post Adjutant, John Murray

ELIGIBILITY DATES

Membership Requirements
An individual is eligible for membership in The American Legion if the individual has served in the Armed Forces of the United States at any time during

the period of April 6, 1917, through November 11, 1918;
any time after December 7, 1941.

Because eligibility dates remain open, all members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to join The American Legion at this time, until the date of the end of hostilities as determined by the government of the United States.

Must have served at least one day of active military duty during one of the dates below and honorably discharged or still serving honorably. :
